ABOUT

Hello my name is Kyle Brown and this is my website. This website is basically my personal web playground. It’s a place where I can do some web development and display things I’ve made. On the left you will find links to the various sections. The comics page contains a bunch of comics I've made over the years. The pictures page contains collections of images ranging from Minecraft constructions to programs to miscellaneous photoshoped images. The writings page contains longer things that I've written, originally it was meant to contain short stories but it’s ended up mostly being programming stuff. The archive page contains a list of posts grouped by year and month.

So now you might be asking, "Who are you?” Well I’m an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta currently working as a Software Developer. I have various hobbies mostly related to computers and enjoy walking down empty streets at night while listening to loud music.

The next question you might have is "Why didn't you get a blog instead?" The simple answer is because I would get bored of a blog. I have lots of random thoughts and I enjoy the idea of putting them someplace where people could theoretically read them but the real draw for me is the web development. I’m much more of a programmer than I am a writer so that’s what keeps me interested in the website. There are also other benefits like being able to easily display different types of content. Most blog sites wouldn’t allow me to display comics and pictures as I do and they especially wouldn’t let me display code easily. There’s also no ads or unwanted content.

Next you might be asking sensible questions like "How did you create this site?" or "how do you update this site?”. I originally made this site as a series of static HTML pages based off of a couple other sites and some tutorials. It has gone through a few revisions over the years and currently a lot of the content is dynamically assembled from various HTML files by php scripts. There’s also some javascript in places to do some client side stuff. The site is hosted by godaddy.com and updated using FTP with WinSCP. Most of the content is created using a combination of Notepad++ and Word. It’s currently running on a windows server to allow for future ASP.net development. For more information read the Website articles on the Writings page.

enjoy.
